Synopsis
This book includes questions on understanding written information, communicating
written information to another person, remembering new information, recognizing
the existence of a problem, combining separate pieces of information to form
a general conclusion, applying general rules to a specific situation, understanding
the order in which things should be done, combining information into a meaningful
pattern quickly, identifying an object in its surroundings, recognizing where
you are in relation to the space you are in, using a map or diagram to get from
one position to another, knowledge of the basic geography of the city, including
major roadways and landmarks, bridges, tunnels, parks, etc and other related
areas.
Diagram Questions
You are given a diagram. Then each question or incomplete statement is followed
by several suggested answers or completions. You will have to select he one
that best answers the question or completes the statement. There are numerous
diagram tests throughout the book that deal with memory, visual recall, and
logic concerning the Dispatcher profession. Many diagrams deal with street names,
traffic flow, map reading, and street direction exercises.
Inclusive Questions
There are inclusive Dispatcher exam questions, you have to relate the information
given in a paragraph and answer them in accordance with the information given.
Catching Mistakes in Print or Typing Questions
In each of these questions, you are given two columns that consist of a series
of names with corresponding addresses. You have to figure out if there are any
errors with these names and addresses in column I compared to column two. This
type of skill set is critical in the Dispatcher profession.
Passage Questions
A Dispatcher scenario followed by a series of questions that deal with that
scenario. There are many questions throughout the book that has a scenario passage

Coding Questions
An ingenious question type called coding, involving elements of alphabetizing,
filing, name and number comparison, and evaluative judgment and application,
has currently won wide acceptance in testing circles for measuring clerical
aptitude and general ability. While the directions for these questions usually
vary in detail, the candidates are generally asked to consider groups of names,
codes, and numbers, and then, according to a given plan, to arrange codes in
alphabetic order, to arrange these in numerical sequence, to re-arrange columns
of names and numbers in correct order, to espy errors in coding, to choose the
correct coding, arrangement in consonance with the given directions and examples,
etc.. There are over 50 questions dealing with 911 Operator coding.
Name and Number Checking Questions
This exam section has questions that present identification numbers, initials,
and last names of employees enrolled in a city retirement system. You have to
choose the option that has the identical identification number, initials, and
last name as those give in each question. Name and Number Checking is another
critical skill that is needed in the Dispatcher profession.
Situational Judgment Questions
These questions test your judgment in situations that a dispatcher might meet
on the job. You read the questions or statements. Each question or statement
is followed by four choices. For each question, you have to choose the one best
answer.
Incomplete Problem Questions
Each question or incomplete statement if followed by several suggested answers
or completions. You have to select the one that Best answers the question or
completes the statement. The questions are Dispatcher related. There are over
50 questions of this type.
